Environment – The Philodendron Red Congo Variegata does best in bright, indirect light but can also handle some shade. Keep it out of direct sunlight, as this can damage its variegated leaves. It prefers temperatures between 18–30°C and likes a bit of extra humidity. If the air is dry, you can mist it gently with warm water a few times a week.
Watering – Water once a week, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out before watering again. For mini plants in 6 cm pots, around 50 ml of water is enough. Make sure extra water can drain away, and always empty any leftover water from the saucer to help prevent root rot.
Leaf care – It’s normal for older leaves to turn yellow over time. When the stem feels a little loose, you can gently remove the leaf. If you see small water droplets on the leaves, it’s often a sign of overwatering or warm temperatures—this is nothing to worry about.
Fertiliser – Feed once a month with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer. You can skip feeding during the darker winter months, especially if you live in a northern region, as the plant grows more slowly and doesn’t need extra nutrients then.
